The task of this machine is for instance to separate shelled from unshelled rice. Separation is accomplished in the compartments of the paddy separator table, which is tile table across its longitudinal axis, supported on special carrying rollers and equipped with zig-zag shaped baffle plates. These zig-zags are arranged at an angle of 90 deg. towards the direction of movement of the table.

 The concept for this mechanical separation is the discovery that grains, although almost equal in size and shape, may largely vary with regard to specific gravity, surface, texture and effect of gravitation. Paddy separators are employed in all those cases where other separation means, such as sieves, blower or aspirators, fail to separate these products efficiently.
