In the Wet Scrubber,  the air flows through the packed bed in a vertical direction from the bottom to the top. The washing solution flows from the top to the bottom in a counter-current (opposite) direction to the air. At the exhaust air outlet, liquid droplets contained in the exhaust air are trapped by a droplet separator. These scrubbers are designed to absorb and remove gaseous pollutants, odours, fumes and other toxic components from waste exhaust streams. The Scrubbers are able to meet the most stringent of today’s regulatory requirements.

The type of equipment uses high performance packing material that combine rapid gas absorption, low pressure drop while allowing maximum gas/liquid distribution. The scrubbing liquid is delivered from an integrated pump tank, via the top-mounted vertical pump and through the spray nozzles above the packing, where it is irrigated

equally over the surface. While the liquid passes through the packing body back to the pump tank and completes the circulation, the exhaust air stream flows through the tower vertically.

An automatic level control in the pump tanks keeps the liquid level constant and equalizes loss from evaporation and protects the recirculation pump from running dry.

A demister arranged subsequently to the gas outlet stream prevents discharge of liquid via the gas stream.
