The product is led into the conveyor either through a feeding hopper or through a feeding pipe

Due to gravitation, the friction between the product and the pipe will be bigger than the friction between the product and the windings. Therefore the product will always be pushed forward and only to a slight degree be transported round with the windings.

 The degree of filling depends on the product to be transported and on the degree of inclination of the auger. For most products, the filling degree will be between 45% and 15%.
